Someone is praying for me…

admin | December 12, 2008

I have learned about myself that I have little to do with whenever I am beginning to really take flight with Jesus.  As soon as I begin to think I am doing good, I drift away from intimacy with Him again.  It’s a vicious cycle.

So right now I am doing really good.  My heart is growing softer and softer to Him.  I am loving Him more (what a miracle!  Thank you God!  I love you Jesus!)

I don’t deserve any of the credit for this.

So, I think that someone must be praying for me and doing a great job at it.  If thats you and you happen to read this, thank you so much.  I am so grateful for you and your thoughfulness to pray for me.  Please don’t stop.  Thank you!

There’s a war on the inside. It’s the arena for me to demonstrate my love for you.

Living Flame of Love

admin | July 3, 2008

1st Stanza of O Living Flame of Love by St. John of the Cross

O living flame of love
that tenderly wounds my soul
in its deepest center! Since
now you are not oppressive,
now consummate! if it be your will:
tear through the veil of this sweet encounter!

Fasting Purifies Prayer

admin | February 12, 2008

Last semester God taught me an amazing lesson on fasting that I wanted to post.  So here it is:

Fasting makes you physically weak.
Your physical weakness (in fasting) works it’s way inside to bring spiritual weakness.
Spiritual weakness is good because it makes you realize your need for God.
As you realize your true weakness and your need for God your faith increases.
And increased faith means more powerful prayer.
And prayer rid of all human strength is perfected prayer.

Therefore, fasting purifies your prayer.

God, let us be a people who are not like Esua, who trade our inheritance for food.  But let us be a people who would deny our stomaches and the world so that we might burn for you.

Intimacy Practicals Article

admin | January 30, 2008

As promised on Sunday, here is an article to help you with practicals for increasing your intimacy with God.  It is a teaching I heard on the Monastery Retreat in December.  A monk gave a teaching on something called Lectio Devino which is a great tool to increase intimacy with God.  Click below to download the Word Document.  Enjoy
