Director Youth Ministries, FUMC Orlando

Full-time (40 hours/week), Exempt

Basic summary of responsibilities:

  1. Seek out youth in the church and surrounding community to share the love of God through engaging programs that meet the spiritual and developmental needs and interests of the youth.

  2. Surround the youth with loving and caring adults who will mentor them.

  3. Equip and encourage youth and their parents to learn to seek and love God, and to love and serve people.

  4. Communicate effectively with youth, parents, church members, participants, and community members through various avenues of church communication, including social media.

  5. Support non-youth ministries of the church with presence, hospitality, and administrative assistance.

Summer Pastoral Intern for FLUMC

Important Dates:

  • Internship Program: Monday, May 26, 2025 through Friday, August 1, 2025

  • Intern Training Day: Wednesday, May 21 via Zoom from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Interns and Supervising Pastors)

  • Intern Reflection Day: Thursday, July 31 via Zoom from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. (Interns Only)

Internship Details:

  • Hours: 30 hours/week as scheduled with Supervising Pastor at a church in Florida

  • Housing: Provided (may be in a congregant's home)

  • Salary: $3,500 ($1,500 host site, $1,500 Office of Clergy Excellence, plus an additional $500 for attending both the Orientation and Reflection Day)

    If you’re applying to serve on the summer leadership team for the first time, please submit your application by February 14th, 2025.

  2. Summer Team 2025 – Returning Leadership Team Member Application
    If you’ve previously served on the summer leadership team and would like to return, please submit your application by February 14th, 2025.

  3. Summer Team 2025 – Support Team Member Application
    If you’re a returning team member and would like to serve in a supporting role, please submit your application by January 12th, 2025.

New team interviews will be in-person during our Preview Weekend from February 21st-23rd, 2025. Virtual interviews will be made available on a case-by-case basis. Returning team member interviews will be scheduled virtually or in-person around the state.

After reviewing all applicants, we will select the Summer Leadership Team and inform them via email. Please note that your employment will be finalized once you’ve submitted all necessary paperwork.

Summer Youth Intern at FUMC Lakeland

Our Youth Ministry is seeking one summer time youth intern (approximately 30 hours per week) from mid-May – mid-August to focus on relationship building, special events, planning regular Connect Sunday night youth group and Sunday morning Donuts and Discussions. This internship will pay $15 an hour. Candidates should be a Youth Ministry Major/Minor and be 20 years old or an incoming Junior or Senior in college. They should have a love for teenagers, teaching and organizational skills, and pass background and reference checks. Overview:

The Associate Director of Youth Ministries and the youth intern work under the leadership of the Director of Youth Ministries. The members of this team meet together on a weekly basis to discuss the calendar of events, programming, and goals of the youth ministry.

They are responsible for fulfilling our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world in the lives of youth (6th grade through 12th grade), creating Christian community, and healing the city and the world.

The primary responsibility of the intern is to shadow the Director and Associate Director of Youth Ministries for the semester of the internship and then take on some primary leadership responsibilities within the ministry. They are expected to build relationships with the youth and families of First United Methodist Church of Lakeland and bring energy and creativity to all programs sponsored by the youth ministry.
